Walking this morning, I chatted with a friend about an upcoming celebration of life for a mutual friend who passed away earlier this year. As we talked details, I looked down and saw a perfect white feather at my feet.
Feathers symbolize freedom, because birds are free to travel earth and sky. Maybe my friend was telling me that she is now free, soaring, at peace and content. White feathers are said to be messengers of peace, love, protection and light, and finding one is considered a blessing from the Divine and a symbol of cleansing. That whatever negative energy you may have accrued is now being washed away, driven off by divine light and love.
I think my beautiful friend also was telling me she is free of all the pain she felt here on earth, cleansed of negative energy, and living in divine light.
When we open up to how the Universe communicates, we begin to see signs everywhere.
Since time immemorial, feathers have been seen as messengers across different cultures and religions, offering deep healings, teachings and insight. If one magically appears in your path, it’s meant for you.
Like finding a feather, love notes from the Universe come in many different ways. Yesterday morning on my walk, there was a quarter, again, literally right in front of my feet.
It’s said that coins are signs from our spirit guides and loved ones that they are looking out for us, and are always near. There are different interpretations for each denomination, but in general they can signify abundance, and that you’re on the right path. I used to think I’d have bad luck if I picked up a penny on tails, but now I don’t see it that way at all. Heads or tails, I always pick it up and say, “Universe, thank you for your abundance.”
One of the most potent signs I’ve received was a moth. Last summer I found one in my car. Several days later I saw one on our back porch. This morning, one landed outside our bathroom window and attached to the screen. Moths represent transformation, hidden knowledge, inner wisdom, psychic abilities and shadow work. They are connected to the moon, feminine and yin energies, and intuitive discoveries. They show up to help you discover your hidden desires and awaken to your true self. The moth’s message is: If you’re searching for deeper meaning in life - your inner light, truth, intuition and highest self can guide you on your path.
When you “find” something, or receive it from the Universe, you might not always know what it means for you.
My go-to is Google. Usually I’ll type in something like, “what is the spiritual meaning of …,” and see what comes up. Sometimes you need to weed through different results until you find one that rings true for you. I also do this with dreams. (I’ll share more in an upcoming blog post for how to receive messaging from your dreams.) And just a word of encouragement, immediately skip over results that offer any negative connotation or leave you with a weird feeling. They don’t come up often, but if and when they do, know that that lower vibration is not what you are meant to receive, and keep going until you find what serves you best.
The more you tune in to signs, the more you’ll see them.
There are no rules. If you see something that catches your eye and it makes you think of a loved one, more at peace, or you receive insight, take it. Know it was meant for you. When we begin to speak the Universe’s “sign” language, we can find solace and joy knowing a loved one is with us, receive guidance that we’re on the right path or need to make a course correction, and so much more. Sign, sign, everywhere a sign!
